Comic book movies have rapidly become the dominant life-form in Hollywood. For example, the recent Captain America: Civil War took over a billion dollars at the box office worldwide. We’ve come a long way since the days of a green-painted Lou Ferrigno grunting at a dude in flared trousers.

Comic book characters have gone mainstream, with audiences across the world now familiar with not only some of the most famous players from the DC and Marvel universes such as Batman, Spider-Man, Superman and The Incredible Hulk, but they’ve also gotten to know much more obscure characters such as Vision, Scarlet Witch, Deadpool and Rogue.

But how many of these superhero movie fans realize that the characters they’ve come to know and love on the big screen look radically different on the pages of comic books?
